But standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. But the tunic was without seam, woven fro m top to bottom so they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be.” This was to fulfil the scripture, ![]() When the soldiers had crucified Jesus they took his garments and made four parts, one for each soldier also his tunic. The chief priests of the Jews then said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘This man said, I am King of the Jews.’ ” Pilate answered, “Wha t I have written I have written.” Pilate also wrote a title and put it on the cross it read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” Many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek. Scripture: There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. Rise, let us be going see, my betrayer is at hand.” (Matthew 26:36-46) Then he came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sin ners. So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, sa ying the same words. Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death remain here, and watch with me.” And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.” And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping and he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if t his cannot pass unless I drink it, thy will be done.” And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. Scripture: Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go yonder and pray.” And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorro wful and troubled. Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit Īs it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,įirst Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you Īnd blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. On the third day he rose again from the dead Īnd is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty įrom there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
